Filter Replacement and Maintenance in Richardson

Most water filter systems aren't finished. They need fresh cartridges, a new O-ring or a cleaned housing. We service the equipment already in your home, check that it's doing its job and tell you honestly when a part is worth fixing.

Keep the system you already paid for working

Every filter wears out on a schedule. Carbon fills up and stops grabbing chlorine. Sediment cartridges clog and choke your water pressure. Reverse osmosis membranes slowly lose their ability to reject what they're meant to. None of that means the whole system is done.

We work on under-sink reverse osmosis units, whole-house carbon tanks, sediment and iron filters, and softeners. We bring the right cartridges, test the water before and after, and look over the housings, valves and tubing while we're there. If something is cracked or worn out, we show you and explain your options.

Sometimes replacement is the better call. An old unit with discontinued parts or a leaking tank can cost more to keep alive than to swap. When that's the case, we say so and tell you why.

What a maintenance visit covers

Cartridge and media changes

We change sediment, carbon and polishing filters with cartridges that fit your housings. You get a note of what went in and when the next change is due.

RO membrane check

We test the water coming out of your reverse osmosis faucet. If the membrane still rejects well, we leave it. If the reading has crept up, we put in a new one.

Seals, O-rings and housings

Dry or flattened O-rings are the most common cause of slow drips under a sink. We clean the housings, inspect each seal and swap out the ones that are worn.

Tank and valve inspection

On whole-house and softener systems we check the control valve, bypass and tank for leaks, and confirm the settings match how your home uses water.

Sanitizing when it's needed

RO tanks and lines can grow a film over time. When a system has gone a long stretch without service, we sanitize it before putting new filters in.

Signs your filters are overdue

  • Chlorine taste is back

When carbon is spent, the pool smell and taste return. It usually comes on slowly, so many people don't notice until a guest mentions it.

  • Pressure has dropped

A clogged sediment cartridge slows the flow at every tap it feeds. On an RO unit, the drinking faucet trickles and the tank takes longer to refill.

  • Drips or damp cabinets

Moisture under the sink often points to a tired O-ring or a hairline crack in a housing. Catching it early saves the cabinet floor.

  • You can't remember the last change

If nobody has touched the system since you moved in, it's working on old filters. That's worth a look even if the water seems fine.

  • The faucet or tank makes noise

An RO drain that runs nonstop or a softener cycling at odd hours usually means a valve or setting needs attention, not a new system.

How the visit goes

  1. 1

    Quick talk on the phone

Tell us what system you have and what you've noticed. A photo of the label helps, but if you don't know the brand, we'll figure it out on site.

  2. 2

    Test and look it over

We test your water before touching anything, then shut off the supply and inspect housings, seals, tubing and tanks. We show you what we find.

  3. 3

    Swap out what's worn

We change the filters and any parts that need it. Old cartridges go in a bag and leave with us, and we put towels down so your cabinet stays dry.

  4. 4

    Check the result

We bring the system back up, check for leaks and test the water again so you can see the difference. You get the next service date in writing.

What moves the cost

We price filter service by what your system needs, and we go over it with you before any work starts. A simple cartridge swap and a full rebuild are different jobs. Here is what makes the biggest difference.

Type of system
A two-stage under-sink filter takes fewer parts than a five-stage RO unit or a whole-house carbon tank that needs fresh media.
Brand and part availability
Common housings take standard cartridges. Some brands use proprietary filters that cost more, and a few older models are hard to find parts for.
How long since the last service
A system that's been ignored for years may need sanitizing, new seals and a membrane on top of the regular filters.
Access
A unit in a tight sink cabinet or a tank tucked in a garage corner can add time. It rarely changes the price much, but we'll mention it.

Filter maintenance questions

Something not covered here? (972) 992-5114

How often should my filters be changed?

Most sediment and carbon cartridges last six to twelve months, depending on how much water your home uses. RO membranes usually go longer. We test the water instead of guessing, and we write down the next date for you.

Can you service a system you didn't install?

Yes. Most of our maintenance work is on equipment another company or a previous owner put in. As long as parts are available, we can usually keep it running.

When do you recommend replacing instead of repairing?

When the tank or main housing is cracked, the control valve has failed on an older softener, or the parts are no longer made. If repair costs come close to a new unit, we lay out both options and let you decide.

Can I change the filters myself?

Many people do, and we're happy to show you how. The trouble spots are seating O-rings correctly and knowing when the RO membrane is actually worn. A yearly visit from us can cover those parts.

Do you serve towns outside Richardson?

Yes. We handle filter service in Plano, Garland, Allen and other nearby towns. The Service Areas page lists where we go.
